"The right to peaceful assembly and protest is vital for any democracy, and throughout Georgia's history it has played a key role in protecting the identity and freedom of Georgians. The Government has an irreplaceable function of protecting these rights. The stability and prosperity that follows European integration depend on the joint work of all citizens to achieve this common goal", the US Embassy in Georgia said in a statement.
