This is not an ordinary election, and we cannot behave normally. We need a unified list - everything should be put aside, - said the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, while remotely participating in the trial.
As Saakashvili mentioned, his task is to facilitate this unity.
"Everything should be put aside. This is not an ordinary election, and we cannot behave normally. We need a united list that will bring professionals to the government and people who may not be active in politics, but can lead the country for the better. Everyone understands this.
At the moment, a press conference is taking place in the European Parliament, where Zurab Chiaberashvili, my mother Giuli [Alasania] and MEPs are also standing beside her. The European Parliament is asking for my release, not because it's about me, [but] it's about the principle that Putin shouldn't get away with it, Russia shouldn't get away with it. There should be no prisoners of conscience here.
My task today is more than ever to facilitate this unity. I put aside all personal ambitions when I came to Georgia. I knew what I was getting into. As much as I can, I will participate with you, with my heart and soul, by mobilizing my supporters, so that we all win together and it will definitely happen," said Saakashvili.
