It is quite emotional for me to appear before the Parliament as a prime ministerial candidate, I was a member of the Parliament for 8 years and today I am leaving the Parliament, - prime ministerial candidate Irakli Kobakhidze said in his speech at the plenary session.
According to him, special respect and attitude towards the democratic constitutional institution will definitely be guiding him during his tenure as the head of the government.
"Presenting myself as a prime ministerial candidate before the Parliament of Georgia is quite emotional for me. I was a Member of Parliament for almost 8 years and today I am leaving the composition of the Parliament. I want to assure you that due to my parliamentary past, special respect and attitude towards the Parliament of Georgia as a leading democratic constitutional institution will definitely be guiding me during my tenure as the head of the government.
I would like to thank each member of our parliamentary team, with whom we have done many important things. Institutionally, we strengthened the country's highest legislative body, adopted a new version of the Constitution, which fully complies with the highest standards of European constitutionalism and parliamentary democracy. We implemented the most important changes that served the country's democratic development, institutional strengthening, protection of peace and security, economic growth, development of various fields, and European integration of Georgia. All this was made possible by the unity of our parliamentary team, principledness, patriotism and devotion to the interests of the country. Thank you very much for your teamwork and friendship", said Irakli Kobakhidze.
