In exactly two weeks, on December 14-15, EU leaders, presidents and prime ministers of 27 countries will meet in Brussels to decide on the enlargement package, which includes 10 countries seeking EU membership. Georgia is included in this package for the first time and this is a particularly emotional moment for me", said EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski.

According to the ambassador, it is important for everyone to unite and work together so that Georgia gets the status of a candidate country for EU membership.

"As you know, on November 8, the European Commission gave 27 states a positive recommendation to grant Georgia candidate status. I sincerely hope that 27 states will take into account this positive recommendation of the European Union, although we will have to wait two more weeks before we will know this decision, be patient and hopeful. Much has been done, certainly more could have been done. We are where we are. There have also been many new initiatives in recent days to push for reform. This requires reforms and next steps before Georgia becomes a full member of the European Union. I am glad that the government reacted very quickly and sent a 9-step action plan to Brussels a few days ago. My colleagues from the European Commission will review this action plan and give a response. Everyone must work together to fulfill these 9 steps, which requires inclusiveness on the part of the government and a constructive approach on the part of the opposition", Herczynski said.
