In 2024, the education and science budget will reach an unprecedented level of GEL 2 billion 508 million, Georgian Minister of Education and Science Giorgi Amilakhvari said during a speech in the format of the "minister's hour" at the plenary session of the parliament.

The Minister spoke about the implemented and ongoing projects at all levels of the education system and touched upon the steps taken in terms of the development of science.

According to him, one of the main priorities of the Georgian government is to promote the development of the education sector, and the growing budget of the education system is a clear confirmation of this.

"The financing of education and science in 2023 amounted to GEL 2 billion 77 million 780 thousand, and in 2024 the budget will reach an unprecedented level of GEL 2 billion 508 million.

Compared to 2012, when only GEL 626.8 million was allocated for financing the education sector, in 2024 the budget of education, science and youth will increase by 300%," Georgy Amilakhvari said.
