The EU Observer Mission to Georgia received a delegation from the Austrian Federal Council
A delegation of the Austrian Federal Council was at the administrative border line with Abkhazia. According to the press release of the EU Monitoring Mission, the mission welcomed the delegation of the Austrian Federal Council headed by the Council's Chairperson Claudia Arpa.
According to the press release, following the visit to the Zugdidi regional office, the delegation received a comprehensive update on the security and humanitarian situation along the administrative border with Abkhazia. The guests then proceeded to the former Nabakevi-Khurcha border crossing point, where EU Monitoring Mission observers briefed the guests on the negative impact of the closure of the crossing point on the lives and livelihoods of communities affected by the conflict.
"During the visit, the delegation traveled to the crossing point of the existing Inguri Bridge, where they witnessed first-hand the vital importance of freedom of movement for the local population. At the end of the visit, members of the delegation expressed their gratitude for the work of the male and female staff of the EU Observer Mission as the only observer mission on the ground. There are currently three Austrian observers serving in the EU observer mission," the press release said.
