Within the framework of its visit to Georgia, the NATO Military Committee held a plenary meeting of the Military Committee in the format of cooperation with Georgia.
Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze addressed the meeting with a welcoming speech. Admiral Rob Bauer, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, and Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces, were also speakers at the meeting.
"During the meeting, representatives of the NATO Military Committee received detailed information about the security situation in the region and the challenges facing the country. At the joint meeting the main directions of cooperation with the Alliance were discussed. Attention was focused on the process of realization of the NATO-Georgia substantial package with the Alliance.
The Georgian side provided NATO Military Committee members with an update on the transformation of Georgia's defense and the progress made," the information disseminated by the Georgian Defense Ministry said.
After the meeting, Admiral Rob Bauer, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, and Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces, made joint statements.
"This is the fifth time the Military Committee is in Georgia, which once again confirms the Alliance's strong support for Georgia and underlines the importance of military cooperation with NATO," reads information released by the Georgian Defense Ministry.
Within the framework of the visit, the Chairman of the Military Committee met with the Minister of Defense and the Chairman of the Parliament. The committee members also visited Krtsanisi, where they familiarized themselves with the progress of the interagency command and staff exercise Didgori 2023.
