The killing of Sheikh Hasan #
In the mid-thirteenth century Badr al-Din Lu'lu', the atabeg of Mosul, moved against the growing Adawiyya community that had formed around the tomb of Sheikh Adî at Lalish. Sheikh Hasan, a central figure of the second generation, was seized and executed.
Scholarship treats this as the earliest of the persecutions later gathered into Yazidi memory as fermans. Details are sparse and the date is given variously in the sources; this entry records what the historical literature can support.
