What does ferman mean?
ferman means “persecution decree.” Literally an order or decree; in Yazidi historical memory ferman commonly denotes a campaign of persecution or massacre.
Community and identity language is sensitive to speaker, region, and political context. Variants are recorded without treating one contemporary identity position as universal.
