What does Birayê axiretê mean?
Birayê axiretê means “brother of the hereafter.” A ritually chosen spiritual brother in the Yazidi institution of otherworldly kinship.
Yazidi religious offices and hereditary relationships are specific institutions, not direct equivalents of similarly translated offices in other religions. The English gloss is functional and intentionally brief.
