Definition
What does Başîqa mean?
Başîqa means “Bashiqa.” A town near Mosul with a long-established Yazidi community, noted together with Behzanê for Arabic-speaking qewal families.
Place and object names often have Arabic, Kurdish, and scholarly spellings. The canonical form here follows the Latin Kurmanji editorial system used throughout this lexicon.
