The House of Religions in Hanover hosted an exciting "Faith food festival" as part of the first "Faith food festival" where representatives of different communities, including the Yazidi community, presented the richness of their cultures and traditions.

The guests of the festival had an opportunity to plunge into the centuries-old history of the Yazidi people through their culinary traditions. The representatives of the Yazidi community paid special attention to one of the most important holidays in the Yazidi culture, dedicated to the saints Khidr Ailas and Khidir Nabi, which is celebrated by the Yazidis with special grandeur in February. One of the most recognisable and favorite dishes they presented at the festival was the traditional dish Pêxun, a fragrant and nutritious cereal porridge, a dish that is most often prepared during the celebration of the saints Khidr Aylas and Khidir Nabi and holds a special place in Yazidi culture.

"Pêxun" can be presented in different variations, from small balls to savoury biscuits. An important element of the preparation is not only the flavour, but also the symbolism associated with this dish, which has been passed down from generation to generation.

"Faith food festival has become a unique event bringing together different religious communities and cultures to share their traditions and richness of heritage. This festival proved to be not only a celebration of taste, but also an opportunity for rapprochement and understanding between different faiths and cultures in Hanover.
