At the ODIHR session on the rights of persons belonging to national minorities, Sashik Sultanyan (Yazidi center for human rights) raised the issue of the implementation of the rights of national minorities in Armenia:

- Despite the fact that there are 11 national minorities in Armenia, the government always describes the country as mono-ethnic, which is a way of denying the presence of national minorities and protecting their rights. - By creating so – called" community leaders "and giving them access to the media, the government has spread the" myth " that Armenia is the best country for national minorities to live in. -As a result of this propaganda and the lack of minority rights-oriented educational programmes, national minorities have lost the motivation to defend their rights, as a result of which they lose their identity, which leads to assimilation.

The issue of the residents of the village of Ferik in Armavia region, whose lands were illegally sold to the representatives of the former Armenian authorities, was also raised.

The OSCE office for democratic institutions and human rights is one of the main human rights institutions in the world. The activities of ODIHR, based in Warsaw, extend to Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia and North America. The office promotes democratic elections and respect for human rights, tolerance and non-discrimination, as well as respect for the rule of law.

The Yazidi Centre for Human Rights is a non – governmental organization whose aim is to protect the rights of national minorities on the basis of the fundamental principles of human rights.

With professional knowledge and experience in the field of human rights, Yazidi human rights defenders founded the first NGO in Armenia, which specializes in the protection of the rights of minorities, in particular, Yazidis.
