"Georgia should use the remaining short period to carry out the necessary key reforms", EU High Representative, Vice—President of the European Commission Josep Borrell said at a briefing held at the office of the EU Delegation in Tbilisi.

"I see many European flags on the streets of this city and I know that 80 percent of the Georgian population supports EU membership. Let me express my gratitude to everyone who stood up for Georgia's European future. Joining the European Union is a national task. All actors must work together, constructively and together. Unity is more important than ever", said Josep Borrell.

The High Representative of the European Union stressed that during the visit he will meet with the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, members of Parliament, as well as representatives of civil society.

"We will look at the progress that has already been made and the work that still needs to be done, as I mentioned at the beginning. Georgia should use the remaining short period to implement the necessary key reforms. The EU's commitment to Georgia is also expressed in our financial support. We are the largest provider of bilateral aid with almost 340 million euros in the period 2021-2024 and our economic investment plan with investments of 1.3 billion euros", said Josep Borrell.

According to him, during the meetings he will also discuss with his interlocutors the negative results of Putin's aggressive war against Ukraine and confirm the EU's strong support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"I am also here to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the deployment of the EU Observer Mission in Georgia. This mission works day and night to ensure peace and resolution of conflicts caused by hunger. She started working in 2008. Since then, the mission has been patrolling and conducting daily monitoring in areas adjacent to the separatist regions. We will have the opportunity to visit them on the spot, after the scheduled meetings in Tbilisi", added Josep Borrell.
