Opposition: Georgian Dream begins final stage of foreign policy change
Six opposition parties in Georgia issued a joint statement claiming that the ruling party, which is called the Russian Dream in the text, "has begun the final stage of changing the country's foreign policy course."
The United National Movement, Elene Khoshtaria-Droa; Agmashenebeli Strategy; European Georgia; Hirchi - More Freedom, and Lelo for Georgia signed.
"We, democratic, pro-Western political parties of Georgia, will do everything to change this regime democratically, to protect Georgia from international isolation and Russian encroachments on freedom and state sovereignty so that our country, which is at the crossroads of history, will irreversibly take the path of de-occupation, the path to the European Union and NATO," the statement says.
The authors of the statement point out that
- "Georgian Dream has jeopardized Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic future and poses a real threat to the country's international isolation;
- It leaves Georgia in the space of Russia's influence and increases the risk of a second aggression from its side;
- The Georgian government is lying when it says that together with Putin's regime it has made a decision on direct flights to strengthen the Georgian economy and deepen the ties of compatriots with their homeland;
- Because of this decision by Putin and Ivanishvili, Georgia openly opposes the Western policy of sanctions against Russia, also the government opposes Ukraine, which is fighting for the freedom of the civilized world.
