Russian airline requested 21 flights per week on Moscow-Tbilisi route

The documents show that Red Wings requests permission for regular flights to Tbilisi from Moscow with a frequency of 21 times a week. Under the agreement on air communication between Russia and Georgia, 21 flights a week is the maximum allowable frequency on this route. The airline plans to fly from Kazan and Samara seven times a week.

Two Russian airlines, Aeroflot and Nordwind, have permanent flights from Moscow to Tbilisi. Permanent access to the Georgian capital is granted to flights from Samara by Ural Airlines, Juvt Aero and Smartavia, while Pobeda, Juvt Aero and Nordwind have permanent access to Tbilisi from Kazan.

Recall that on May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on direct air links with Georgia. It was interrupted in 2019 at the initiative of Moscow after the anti-Russian actions in Tbilisi. The Russian Transport Ministry said that flights to Georgia will be operated by domestically produced aircraft.

We should also add that the Kremlin head also issued a decree on the abolition of the visa regime for the citizens of Georgia from May 15, 2023.
