Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili responded to Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, who at a special briefing called on the government to convene the Security Council of Georgia and introduce visas for Russian citizens for three months.

Darchiashvili said: "The Prime Minister of Georgia convenes the Security Council on the basis of the situation when he sees the need and when that need arises. This is not an issue that can serve as a reason to convene the Security Council. When the Prime Minister of Georgia deems it necessary, he will do so", said the Foreign Minister of Georgia.

Let us recall that Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili said at a briefing on May 10 that "it is necessary to convene the Security Council, which would consider the issue of granting visas for Russian citizens for three months. This should be done on the basis of internal threats that the country is facing. We need more control on the part of the state over those Russian citizens who come to us from Russia".
