Members of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who were on a visit to Tbilisi, held meetings in the Parliament of Georgia.

In connection with the implementation of the 12-point plan during the meeting the members of the Committee discussed the activities of the Legal Affairs Committee and the future plans in this direction.

As Anri Okhanashvili, the Head of the Committee said after the meeting one of the main topics of interest for the European colleagues was whether all of the Parliamentary political groups took part in the working meetings and work related to the 12-point plan.

Before that the members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Monitoring Committee had also met with the representatives of the parliamentary opposition.

At the meeting with the members of the faction "United National Movement - united opposition, strength in unity," the parties discussed the implementation of the issues defined by the 12-point plan regarding Georgia's acceptance of candidate status.

"Depolarization is not possible without a fair and objective resolution of the Michael Saakashvili and Nika Gvaramia issue, which is one of the important obstacles in this process. It is also important to fulfill the issues defined by the 12-point plan in the spirit adopted in the resolutions of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament and the decisions of the European Commission, and not cosmetically, as the "Georgian Dream" imagines", Levan Bezhashvili of the faction said after the meeting.

The meeting of the representatives of the parliamentary political group Reforms Group and the members of the Parliamentary Assembly Observatory of the Council of Europe (PACE) focused on the implementation of the 12-point plan of EU membership and the current political processes in the country.

According to the chairwoman of the political group, Khatuna Samnidze, the implementation of the recommendations is not enough. According to her, the European partners must see that the ongoing political processes in the country are managed in a European way and in accordance with the European values.

The meeting with the members of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe was attended by MPs Giorgi Vashadze, Khatuna Samnidze and Teona Akubardia.
