Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer is on a visit to Georgia. The Austrian Chancellor met with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, after which they made joint statements.

According to Karl Nehammer, Georgia is a very important economic partner for Austria, and "there are many opportunities here", including for attracting Austrian investors.

According to the Austrian Chancellor, the data on Georgia's economic development is very impressive when it comes to the development of the economic market, tourism, energy production and the energy sector.

The Austrian Chancellor also spoke about Georgia's European integration and noted that Austria is ready to support Georgia.

"Mr. Prime Minister [Garibashvili] spoke about what has been done to implement the recommendations of the European Commission. It is clear that it is not always easy to do this, but it is definitely worth moving in this direction, making efforts, investing more in this direction, in the literal sense of the word, because this process, among other things, will bring a lot of changes from an internal political point of view, including for the citizens of Georgia.

Politically, for people who are politically responsible, this is always a very big problem. I have offered Mr. Prime Minister our support in all areas where it is necessary. At the same time, this process clearly shows that all candidate countries should have the same starting conditions. There should be no way to achieve the goal in some abbreviated way. During the last period, there really was a discussion on this topic in the EU, what were the successes in the case of these three candidate countries, and when we talk about Austria's support, I once again emphasize Austria's readiness, including from the point of view of know-how, to support you. We were in a similar situation when we had the status of an EU member, and we know what needs to be done in this direction".
