Drug couriers arrested in Nineveh province
The National Security Agency announced the elimination of a drug trafficking network and the seizure of more than 400,000 narcotic pills in Nineveh province.
The agency's statement reads: "The units of the National Security Agency in Nineveh province, after coordination with the Nineveh Security Directorate, as well as thanks to the efforts of intelligence and obtaining judicial permission, managed to eliminate a dangerous drug trafficking network consisting of 3 persons by an elaborate ambush. More than 400 thousand narcotic pills were seized."
According to local Yazidi media: recently, Arab settlers have become more active and have started selling and distributing narcotic drugs among Yazidi population, attracting young people. Nineveh province is becoming not only a transit point for drug couriers, but also the distribution of drugs begins here.
According to a high-ranking official of the internal police, after interrogation, the network members admitted that they distributed narcotic pills in various provinces of the center and south of the country, indicating that the testimony of the accused was duly recorded and transferred to the competent authorities for further consideration of the criminal case.
