On Friday, December 16, in Tbilisi, in the Ezid Temple (Quba Siltan Ezid), the celebration of Aida Ezid took place, the clergy conducted a religious ritual, after which they blessed and congratulated both all the guests of the Temple and all Yazidis of the world. After the religious rituals, the organizers handed over Yazidi calendars to those present.

Aida Ezid is a celebration of the creation of the world, which is celebrated by Yazidis in winter, in the second half of December, on the third Friday of the month. According to Yazidi mythology, it was on the first day of the week that the Earth was created. The teaching of Yazidism says that God created with the help of seven angels. At the head of these angels, after God, are Malake Taus and the Sun. These three forces, with the help of angels, began the creation of the World on Saturday and completed it on Sunday. On Monday, the Earth received water and air, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Yazidis hold a fast in honor of God who created the World. During the days of fasting, they eat only in the evening (before sunset) "fitar" and at night (before dawn) "paşîv". The fast should coincide with the location of the Moon when it is clearly visible in the sky. One of the characteristic features of Yazidism is the preservation of purity. Therefore, Yazidis carefully clean their home before the holiday. Then they start cooking festive food. Yazidis stock up on products that are not prohibited to them. Evening meals are served by the whole family. Before sunset, a share of "şîv-paşîv" is allocated from the common meal for deceased relatives and neighbors or needy families are treated. According to Yazidis, after sunset all roads and gates of the otherworld are closed, and the food that the souls of the deceased are waiting for there will not be able to reach them. Before sunset, all family members wash, pray, sit down together at the table to have a "fitar" dinner, saying the words: "Oh, Great Lord, accept my service!". This is how the solemn service is held all three days of fasting. On Thursday, after dinner, under the leadership of the sheikhs, everyone gathers in those houses where someone has died during the year and expresses condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased. On Friday, they visit the houses of sheikhs and feasts, and then go to visit each other. Folk festivals take place all day, sometimes accompanied by music. On this day, quarreled relatives or fellow villagers forgive each other all insults and reconcile.

Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yazidis sincerely congratulates all Yazidis on this wonderful holiday, be healthy and happy friends!
