The United Nations, in collaboration with Yazda, a global non-governmental organization that defends all religious and ethnic minorities, including Asyrians, Chaldeans, Kaks, Shabaks, Yazidis and others, document the experience of the survivors of the genocide of Yazidis.

The initiative was launched in partnership with Jameel International, Culturunners with the office of the UN Secretary-General's Envoy on Technology and "Listening Nobody's" platform. The digital archive was released from Jameel's headquarters in Dahuk, Iraq and the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris, France. The project initially directly supported 16 camps for displaced persons (Qadia, Hanky, Mam Rashan, Kabarto, etc.).

The archive reports also indicate that ISIS has displaced 360,000 Yazidi population, which numbered more than half a million people in Iraq until 2014 and more than 200,000 people still live in Iraq. Now this digital archive, created by survivors, is a moral support for those who have been traumatized and experienced deep horror as a result of the loss of roots and culture.

"The social memory after the violent events witnessed by the Yazidi community needs to be recorded. These archives document the richness of Yazidi culture and were created as part of a collaborative project designed to provide intercultural and psychosocial support", said George Richards, director of Jameel International.
