Displaced Yazidis living in Dohuk, in the Mam Rashan camp, demand the opening of a hospital or maternity ward. According to observations carried out by local media, out of 15 camps within the borders of the Dohuk region, only one camp has a maternity ward.

"The opening of a maternity ward is a necessity for us, because there are hundreds of poor families who do not have cars to deliver women to city hospitals during childbirth and any emergency situation or they cannot cope with the costs of childbirth in private hospitals, so we need to open a maternity ward inside the camp, which is required by all women in camps", said Samira Badal, a Yazidi activist who lives in the Kibertu displaced persons camp.

There is no statistical data on the number of newborns among displaced Yazidi families.

According to local officials, it is impossible to open maternity wards in all camps, because this requires major financial support and the allocation of medical personnel. In some camps within the borders of the Zakho administration in Dohuk, ambulances have been allocated to transport pregnant women and other emergency cases, for round-the-clock patient care.

325,000 IDPs live in Dohuk province, 135,000 of whom are spread across 15 camps and the remaining 190,000 live outside the camps.
