Georgia's external debt increased by $268.8 million in the second quarter of 2022.

The total external debt of Georgia in the summer of 2022 amounted to $22.3 billion, which is 104.8% of GDP, according to the website of the National Bank of Georgia.

In the second quarter of the current year, the total external debt increased by $268.8 million, including $662.3 million, the indicator increased due to operational changes, and decreased by $290.2 million due to exchange rate changes, by $73.2 million due to price changes, and by $30.1 million due to other changes.

Of the total amount, $10.2 billion is the state debt (47.8% of GDP), of which $7.6 billion is the government debt, $899.0 million is obligations of the National Bank, as well as $424.3 million and $1.3 billion - debt on bonds and loans of state enterprises.

The debt of the banking sector at the reporting date is $5.6 billion, private enterprises - $4.9 billion, debt between companies - $3.4 billion.

Georgia's net debt as of June 30, 2022 amounted to $13 billion (38% of GDP), including net state debt of $6.2 billion (29.2% of GDP).
