Georgia's Parliament will be presented with the 2023 draft state budget today, October 3.
The draft state budget for the next year involves an increase in funding for ministries.
Taking into account the draft, the allocations of the Ministry of Refugees from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Protection are set at 6 billion 798.7 million GEL, which is 771.1 million GEL more compared to the approved plan of 2022.
The financing of the Ministry of Education and Science is set at one billion 978.6 million GEL, which is 293.7 million GEL more than the approved allocation for 2022. According to the project, the financing of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth is set at 401.2 million GEL, in 2022 it is 357 802.8 million GEL.
Funding for the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure is increasing. The financing of the department is determined in the amount of 2 billion 975.9 million GEL, including 1 billion 543.3 million GEL in part of budget funds, 13.9 million GEL in grants, 1 billion 418.8 million GEL in loans.
The financing of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture is also increasing, which will amount to 688.5 million GEL.
Taking into account the draft budget, the financing of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development has been reduced. The document notes that 653,7 million GEL is provided for the financing of the department next year, this year it was 932 404,9 million GEL. According to the draft budget, it is clear that the financing of the Ministry of Finance is slightly increasing and will amount to 106,0 million GEL, this year – 105 404,8.
By the decision of the Government, the funding of the Ministry of Justice is also increasing. 369,4 million GEL is provided for the department, this year – 310 568,4.
The financing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is also increasing and 183 million GEL is provided for the department, this year – 176 603,6. As for law enforcement agencies, their financing is also increasing. In particular, according to the draft budget, 1 billion 260 million GEL is provided for the Ministry of Defense, which exceeds the approved plan for 2022 by 257.6 million GEL.
1 billion 70 million GEL is expected for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which exceeds the approved plan for 2022 by 205 million GEL.
The government explains that the increase in funding for the department is mainly due to a 20% increase in salaries for police officers.
