Delegations from 14 cities of the world have arrived in the capital of Georgia, they will be present at the celebration of the day of Tbilisi – "Tbilisoba", the Mayor's office of the capital reports.

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze met with Baku Mayor Eldar Azizov, Saarbrücken Mayor Uwe Conradt and Rome Mayor Advisor on International Relations, Annis Gabriele Phillip.

Kaladze thanked them for the visit and expressed the hope that they would enjoy the events dedicated to "Tbilisoba".

"Tbilisi is a beautiful city, with its culture, traditions, buildings. We are trying to further improve the infrastructure of the city, decorate the streets, which is very important. Everyone who has visited Tbilisi at least once is in love with it, and I am sure that you will also like the days spent here, you will be amazed by Georgian culture, cuisine and wine, which we are proud of", Kaladze said.

At a meeting with foreign colleagues, Kaladze spoke about the importance of developing relations between twin cities.

This year, Tbilisoba will be held in six locations on October 1 and 2 with a diverse program. A large-scale celebration of the capital's day is taking place for the first time after the coronavirus pandemic.

For the first time, the City Day was celebrated in October 1979. Due to the difficult socio-economic period in the history of Georgia from 1989 to 1994, the holiday was not celebrated.

Since 2018, "Tbilisoba" is held annually on the first weekend in October, instead of at the end of the month, as was previously customary.
