UN builds new water treatment plant in Sinjar district
The United Nations Development Programme is building a new water treatment plant in the Sinjar area, where the Yazidi population lives.
More than 9,500 people will have access to clean drinking water and this water treatment plant will be able to purify more than 100 liters of water for one person per day.
The project was implemented as part of the Stabilization Program thanks to the generous support of USAID in Iraq.
To date, USAID has supported about 900 rehabilitation projects, which include the restoration of vital infrastructure such as: water supply, electricity, education, roads, bridges and healthcare.
All of the above points are necessary for the return of the Yazidi population from camps for refugees and displaced persons.
