The Ukrainian-language education sector in Georgian schools is being expanded, the press service of the Ministry of Education reports.

Starting from the new academic year, students of school №220 in the Tbilisi district of Chugureti will be able to receive education in Ukrainian. The Ukrainian-speaking sector of the Batumi school №20 has also been expanded.

Since the spring of last year, the Mykhailo Hrushevsky Tbilisi School №41 has also been taught in Ukrainian.

In the Ukrainian sector, students study both compulsory and optional subjects. Along with the Ukrainian program, they study Georgian language and literature and the subject "Our Georgia".

"All students of the Ukrainian—speaking sector will be provided with school resources and netbooks necessary for training", the Ministry of Education reported.

Children who could not continue their education in Ukrainian schools because of military operations are enrolled in Georgian schools according to simplified procedures. Currently, more than 2000 Ukrainian schoolchildren receive education in various public and private schools throughout the country. Of these, more than 1,4 thousand children continue to study in the Ukrainian-speaking sector.
