Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Saturday congratulated King Charles III on his ascension to the British throne.

“May his reign bring a new level of prosperity for his people”, Zourabichvili tweeted.

According to the tradition of the English succession, Charles III became king automatically immediately after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Charles III was officially proclaimed King of Great Britain during a short ceremony called the Proclamation of the King, held on Friday morning at St. James’s Palace in London.

Charles III, with a Bible in his hands, pronounced an oath to the kingdom and each of its components separately — England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Also, separately the monarch took an oath in which he promised to protect the Church of Scotland before the members of the Privy Council.

All the oaths taken are fixed in a document, which at the end of a short ceremony was signed by the monarch himself and the main witnesses — William, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Queen consort.

Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yazidis joins the congratulations of the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili.
