Georgia’s Economy Ministry on Thursday cited Minister Levan Davitashvili as saying the Government expects domestic fuel prices to “significantly decrease” by the end of this month.

Davitashvili said the Government had discussed matters of competition in the fuel market, as well as exploration of cheap sources of fuel supply, with the private sector, adding the ruling team could ensure reduction of current fuel prices at gas stations across the country.

During his meeting with representatives of networks of major fuel distributors earlier today, Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili and Davitashvili made comments on the current situation in the consumer market of oil products in the country.

Fuel market forecasts, competition issues and opportunities to minimise margins were also in the focus of the meeting, with the Head of the Georgian National Competition Agency Irakli Lekvinadze presenting results of a monitoring of the oil products market.
