Viber starts development of operating systems for iOS, Android and Java in Georgia
Viber in Georgia plans to hire up to 50 employees by the end of 2022, including developers for iOS and Android operating systems, as well as quality assurance specialists and Java developers. This is reported by the Ministry of Finance of Georgia.
Georgia-based Viber GA LLC plans to provide information technology services to the company that runs the popular global messaging and calling app Viber.
Viber GA belongs to Viber Media Sàrl, a Luxembourg company. Viber GA, registered in Georgia on April 8, received the status of an international company for IT activities.
The ministry noted that the key activities of the company are the production of software, computer programming, consulting and related activities, as well as the creation and delivery of digital products and web products and provide support and software updates.
In March 2022, Rakuten Viber, a world leader in private and secure messaging and voice communications, announced the opening of an office in Tbilisi to develop a mobile application for its Viber messaging product.
At that time, the Georgian government stated that the entry of a brand of such scale as Rakuten Viber into the Georgian market would be a new incentive for actors and individuals interested in developing high-tech business in the country, especially for IT specialists.
According to the Ministry of Economy, Viber is one of the most popular VoIP platforms in Georgia with a significant customer base — 1.7 million active users in the country, with a total population of 3.7 million people.
The company has offices all over the world: USA, UK, France, Israel, Luxembourg, Belarus, Bulgaria, Singapore, Ukraine.
Rakuten Viber has 500 employees worldwide.
