The «Ezdina» Foundation held its first dialogue session at the Serekaniye Yazidi Refugee Camp in Al-Hasakah. The meeting, titled «Lack of Humanitarian Aid to Displaced Persons in the Camps», was moderated by civic activist Jeannard Seydoux.

During the dialogue, the reasons for limiting the provision of humanitarian aid, as well as suggestions and recommendations for improving these services in the region were considered.

Residents of the Serekaniye camp spoke about their difficulties in the camp, which lacks basic necessities such as water, electricity and medical services, lack of a minimum survival allowance, and high unemployment in the camp. According to the residents of the camp, humanitarian organizations provide very little assistance, and those food kits that are occasionally provided by them are overdue.

According to experts, corruption and lack of control is one of the main reasons why displaced persons are not provided with services in the camp.

It is necessary to create a joint commission for proper control and supervision in the provision of housing to camp residents, construction of sewerage, provision of electricity and drinking water, increase of individual allowance for bread and food, improvement of their quality and provision of garbage containers in the camp.

The project of the «Ezdina» Foundation aims to promote a culture of brotherhood and respect for religious and national pluralism, countering hate speech and extremism, eliminating negative stereotypes that have accompanied some religious and national components, strengthening the potential of minorities and also emphasize the importance of defending the interests of children who survived the war in Syria.
