Georgia has allowed its citizens to receive a pension in the country of second citizenship

Georgia has allowed its citizens with dual citizenship to receive a pension simultaneously in two countries.
Until now, according to the law, persons with dual citizenship could receive a pension only in one country – for this they had to make a choice and formalize this decision in the social service.
Now the Government of Georgia will pay a pension to its citizen, even if he receives social benefits in another country.
The change in legislation was adopted in accordance with Government Decree N310 of June 13, 2022.
In Georgia, an old-age pension is paid to women from the age of 60 and men from the age of 65. In total, about 794.4 thousand people receive a pension in Georgia, of which 417.4 thousand are over 70 years old.
Starting from January 1, 2022, the pension for pensioners in Georgia under the age of 70 is 260 lari, and in the mountainous regions – 312 lari.
Citizens over the age of 70 receive a pension of 300 lari (about $ 100), and pensioners from highland villages – up to 360 lari.
In total, in 2022, the state allocated 2.9 billion lari for pensions.
