The discovery of the mass graves did not attract either international or local attention, the story was told by the participants of the event under the heading: "State bodies and organizations ignore mass graves of the Yezidi minority."

Last week, the Martyrs' Fund in Iraq announced the beginning of a new stage in the search for Yezidi mass graves, they announced their intention to open cemeteries in Ramadi and Sinjar this year, they confirmed their desire to create their own database.

As part of the new stage, the Martyrs Foundation announced the opening and excavation of mass graves in the village of Kani, located in the east of the Sinjar district center.

One of the surviving Yezidis, Fawaz Sefil, told local Yezidi media: "I do not know whether to cry for my father and my family or to take care of the organization of burial ceremonies, no one cares about us. When these people were alive, no one cared about them, and now they are dead and again no one cares about them.

"We are obliged to organize a funeral ceremony to honor the memory of our deceased," Fawaz continued.

Cemeteries of the village of Kocho were opened and excavated, 142 martyrs were buried. Two months ago, the mass graves of Hardan were opened by the Martyrs Foundation and the UNITAD team, but the remains are still in the forensic medical examination of Baghdad.

According to unconfirmed statistics, there are 5 mass graves in the village of Kani, in which about 106 people were killed by ISIS militants in August 2014.
