After the European Council granted Georgia a European perspective instead of the status of a candidate for EU membership, NGOs and activists belonging to the civil movement "Take a Step towards Europe" condemned the "purposeful sabotage" of the Georgian authorities towards the country and called on citizens to go to Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi on June 24 at 20:00 to protect the European future.

"Bidzina Ivanishvili and the Georgian Dream have doomed the Georgian people," Eka Gigauri, head of the NGO Transparency International — Georgia, said at a briefing yesterday, adding that "together we must do everything to change what is happening in the country today."

"We must show the authorities that we will not allow our future to be destroyed and will demand an answer from them," Eka Gigauri said, stressing that "we must show that we will demand an answer from them for lying to the Georgian people, that they will give them the Georgian dream, and in the end we got the Russian dream".

The head of the Association of Young Lawyers of Georgia Nika Svimonishvili said that the Georgian dream is a political force that is killing our future and the future of this country."

According to him, the ruling team "destroyed for many years" the dream of the Georgian people to become a member of the European Union.

"We will all gather in front of the Parliament building to express our demands to the authorities and ensure that Georgia once again becomes a leader on the path to European integration, catching up with Moldova and Ukraine," said Shota Digmelashvili, one of the founders of the Shame movement, which is also the organizer of the action held on June 20.

One of the organizers of the rally in Gori, Teona Fankvelashvili, told the Mtavari Archi TV channel that at a time when the country's authorities "turned away from the planned path with great zeal" and "probably change course towards Russia," we must once again declare that we choose Europe and progress.
