The local Yezidi population of Shangal gathered in front of the PKK headquarters on Wednesday, demanding the withdrawal of the armed group from the region.

This week, an extraordinary terrorist attack was carried out by ISIS accomplices against the PKK, because of which civilians were killed.

A video has spread on social networks showing angry residents gathering at the PKK headquarters and asking the armed group to leave the area and not endanger the lives of civilians. According to the video, clashes broke out between the sides after a PKK-linked group tried to disperse the demonstrators.

Kasim Shesho, commander of the Yazidi Peshmerga forces in Shangal, confirmed this information to local media, noting that after the incident, residents of the Sinun subdistrict went to the PKK headquarters and demanded that the armed group move its headquarters away from residential Yazidi areas to the mountains.

Armed groups are often criticized for using civilians as human shields to repel attacks by establishing their military bases in areas populated by Yazidi civilians.
