Today, the Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis will touch upon one of the biggest problems of the Yezidi community, namely apoliticality.

Nowadays it is widely known that apathy characterizes politics even in developed democratic countries, this general apathy is observed among all social categories, but is especially common among national minorities. The position of our Yezidi community in terms of political interests is quite simple: "wherever the wind blows, they will go there."

The apolitical nature of the Yezidis is isolated by the fact that we simply do not want to do anything for our community in the political sphere.

When a person is a citizen of a country, he automatically becomes a reflection of the country's policy. For example, if there are traces of authoritarianism in the state, this is often due to the weak political will of citizens or even their apolitical nature, if national minorities are citizens, then their influence is significant. Politicality does not consist only in voting in elections, politicality is when a person or a community emphasizes its position on a particular issue.

What is happening to the Yezidi community?

The Yezidi community, on the contrary, tries to be "quieter than water, lower than grass" and not talk about real problems, so as not to annoy the titular nation.

Many people call this position logical, since there are few of us and it is better not to "dig in", let our rights be violated, but we have a roof over our heads. Being politically active does not mean going out to protests and insulting the current government, there are much more effective methods. As a community, we first need to eradicate the three interconnected horsemen of oblivion for the community:

* Marginalization

* Asceticism

* Apolitical

We wrote about marginalization and asceticism in previous articles "what the Yezidis are silent about", also touching on ways to solve these problems. As for apoliticality, the problem here is much bigger and requires scrupulous work. Apoliticality is most often found where the gaze is directed in the other direction or is completely closed. The biggest problem of apoliticality is that we now live in an era of consumption, and we have no time for politics. Another problem is that we often rely on those who supposedly understand this in political matters, but in fact this is manipulation, to know fundamental human rights, you do not need to have a doctorate in political science, this is just a trick.

In conclusion, it should be noted that the problem of the Yezidi community is that it cannot gather into one political unity, it is easier to divide into "clans" and promote their internal small ideas that will affect their mini world. If a Yazidi has made his way into politics, then most often he promotes only his own interests (this can be observed among Yazidis in post-Soviet countries), and he "sharply" forgets about the interests of the community.

Of course, looking at all this, the "ordinary" Yezid will not have a desire for a political core, which ultimately leads to apolitical.
