We are doing everything to keep prices low, but the most important thing is to keep employment, jobs and increase incomes in our country," Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, said in the parliament of the country, where he is in the order of interpellation.

Levan Davitashvili answered the question about prices, noting that the main responsibility of the economic team is to create economic conditions and a normal environment for the life of the population.

"Accordingly, our economic policy is aimed precisely at using certain social mechanisms of immediate protection to ease the situation of our citizens in those conditions when price increases and inflation are global problems. Also, to conduct our economic policy in such a way that the incomes of the population grow and there is employment. Of course, this is the main goal. As for prices, it was clear to us, of course, that the entire economic team should be mobilized to reduce inflation, and, two things affect inflation to a greater extent, these are food and fuel.

We worked with the business in an organized way to further diversify the sources of supplies, which we managed to do to import alternative fuel from Central Asian countries or other sources into the country, which gave us the fact that prices began to decline. We see that, especially at unbranded gas stations, fuel prices have significantly decreased," Davitashvili said.

According to him, there was also a controversy regarding wheat, and here the state's decision was based on the following – the economy is important, but the most important thing is the living conditions of the population.

"The decision was made in favor of this, so that the price of flour increased slightly. However, we understand that there is inflation and, in general, prices are rising," Levan Davitashvili said.
