The first Yezidi Women's Forum "For Peace and Peaceful Coexistence" was held in Lalesh

With the assistance of Mian Khairi Bey (wife of the spiritual leader of the Yazidis in Iraq Hazem Tahsin Said) and under the slogan "We extend the hand of peace to the whole world and to a better future", the first Women's Forum was held in the guest house of the Lalesh temple, in the presence of leading Iraqi political, cultural, and social activists and survivors of the Yazidis in support of the Yazidi people "For peace and peaceful coexistence."

At the beginning of the opening ceremony of the forum, everyone honored the souls of the Yezidis who died in 2014 during the genocide of the Yezidi people with a minute of silence. Mian Khairi welcomed all the honorable participants and touched upon the importance of concerted efforts aimed at paying tribute to the cause of the Yezidis and supporting the survivors and survivors of the genocide of the Yezidis of Sinjar.

Ms. Mian stressed the importance of ending the suffering of displaced persons in displaced persons camps and the voluntary and safe return of displaced persons to their places of origin.

Ms. Amna Zakri (Representative of Barzani's headquarters), who was present, spoke about the role of Yazidi women in Iraqi and Kurdish society and stressed that President Masoud Barzani emphasizes and calls for Yazidis to have the right to vote and to be considered and taken care of. She spoke about what Yezidi women were subjected to, concluding that a Yezidi woman personifies valor and strength, because in difficult times many Yezidi women took up arms and defended their towns and villages.

The Secretary General of the Women's Council in the Kurdistan Regional Government, Dr. Khanzad Ahmed, in her speech noted that Yazidi women were stronger than other women who were subjected to genocide, stressing that we will continue to support women until we get their legal rights.

Vian Suleiman (Chairman of the Kurdistan Women's Union) stressed that Yezidis hold a special place in the political leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, pointing out that President Masoud Barzani respects the Yezidi minority and recognizes their ancient history and culture. She stressed that everyone should unite to eliminate the injustice against Yezidi women.

At the meeting, it was mentioned that the remains of hundreds of martyrs are still in mass graves, that hundreds of girls are still abducted and are in the hands of ISIS terrorists and their families, and hundreds of young men are missing.
Respected poet Sundus Al-Najjar read a poem in which she speaks about the Yezidi pain and alienation that a Yezidi person is experiencing today in his homeland.

A documentary about the tragedy experienced by the Yezidis was shown to those present. In conclusion, letters of thanks were presented to the women who played an important and outstanding role in supporting the Yezidis.
