According to a joint report published by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), there are between 80 and 100 thousand refugees living in the Kurdistan region.
It was stated that the income level of refugees living in camps is lower than that of refugees living in cities.
According to the report, the average income of people living in camps is 258 thousand Iraqi dinars (about 180 US dollars), and the average income of refugees living in cities is 436 thousand Iraqi dinars (about 300 US dollars).

Yazidi refugees need urgent funding to access basic food

As of 2021, 14 percent of refugees living in camps and 43 percent of refugees living outside the camps had access to basic food. It was noted that in 2020 this figure was from 36 to 74%.
The report notes that the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on employment in 2020 and the subsequent devaluation of the Iraqi dinar and rising prices continue to reduce the access of Yazidi refugees to basic foodstuffs.
"Additional funding is urgently needed to continue helping 36,000 vulnerable Syrian refugees in camps in Iraq," the statement said. It was noted that WFP has requested US$ 10.1 million to continue uninterrupted monthly food and cash assistance.
It was also noted that emergency funding is vital, as 86% of people in the camps are particularly vulnerable due to food insecurity.
But whether the transfer of aid to Yazidi refugees will be controlled remains a question.
