The annual international forum of the European Association for Quality Assurance of Higher Education (ENQA) will be held in Georgia in 2023, the Ministry of Education and Science said in a statement.
The Management Council of the Association made this decision due to the successful activities of the National Center for the Development of the Quality of Education under the Ministry of Education of Georgia.
The international forum will address the current issues and trends related to the policy of higher education in the European area and ensuring the highest quality.
The forum will be attended by the heads of 55 education quality assurance agencies from 32 European countries. Employees of quality assurance agencies, members of the European Register of Quality Assurance of Education (EQAR), the Association of European Universities, the Association of European Students and so on will also join the forum.
Monitoring of the implementation of the recommendations of the ENQA expert group at the National Center for the Development of the Quality of Education was carried out in 2021.
According to experts, all the recommendations have been implemented, which has significantly increased the quality of higher education in Georgia in relation to the common standards and principles of quality assurance of education in the European area.
By the decision of the ENQA Council, the National Center for the Development of the Quality of Education in April 2019 received the status of a full member of the association for a period of five years, since the country fully meets the main criteria for membership in this association.
The European Association for Quality Assurance of Higher Education is a non–profit organization that independently monitors educational institutions.
The Association was founded in 2000 in Helsinki by the countries participating in the Bologna Agreement under the name "European Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education" (European Network for Quality Assurance in Higher Education).
In 2004, the word Network in the name was changed to Association. Membership in the association is open to all education quality control agencies in the countries that have signed the Bologna Declaration.
