In post-conflict regions, small businesses often suffer under unstable economies. Financial instability is an ongoing deterrent for still displaced Yazidis to return to their areas of origin.
To bridge the economic gap in post-conflict communities in Ninewa, Nadia’s initiative provided business owners in Bashiqa with equipment and supplies needed to revitalize and expand their businesses. 10 male and female business owners were selected as project beneficiaries based on need. The business owners and their employees were involved in every step of the project’s implementation.
Investing in and supporting small, local businesses enables marginalized communities to re-establish their economic stability. Yazidis need and deserve sustainable, long-lasting income opportunities and employment. That is why Nadia’s Initiative is committed to helping women and men establish and scale-up successful, sustainable businesses.
This project was funded by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
