Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani went to Brussels to attend a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Eastern Partnership countries, the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to the charter of the EU program, the Eastern Partnership is aimed at the political and economic integration of the EU with six countries: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
According to the ministry, the ministerial will be held on Monday, a month before the Eastern Partnership summit and is aimed at discussing the main topics of the summit.
"David Zalkaliani will share with his colleagues the expectations and priorities of the Georgian side on such important topics as the Summit Declaration, the Eastern Partnership Economic and Investment Plan and the EU flagship initiatives, including strengthening Georgia's ties with the EU in the field of energy, transport and potential utilization, development of small and medium-sized businesses, improvement of the environmental situation," the message reads.
Zalkaliani will discuss with colleagues the issues of strengthening the EU's participation in the Eastern Partnership region.
In June, in response to EU sanctions, Belarus suspended its participation in the Eastern Partnership initiative of the European Union and started the "freezing" procedure Readmission agreements with the EU.
