The Arab population from the southern provinces of Iraq, with the support of the security forces, again tried to seize the lands of several Yezidi farmers in the Dohuk area in the south of the disputed Iraqi province.

The former Iraqi regime of the Baath Party led by Saddam Hussein in the 1980s, as part of the Arabization campaign, resettled thousands of Arab families from southern Iraq to the places of residence of the Yazidi minority. After the liberation of Iraq in 2003, Arab families received compensation and returned to their places of origin. However, after the events of October 2017, when the disputed areas came under the control of the Iraqi army and the pro-Iranian militia Hashd al-Shaabi, the Arabs resumed their attempts to seize the lands of Yezidi farmers in the same territories.

The other day, when trying to seize lands belonging to the Yezidis, residents, having come into conflict with Arab families, prevented them from appropriating foreign lands. In several other villages, non-indigenous Arab families have already begun to plow the lands of Yazidi farmers.

In this regard, Yazidi human rights organizations have informed local Internet media that Arab families come to villages, presenting certain documents about their right to land belonging to the local Yazidi population.
Every year during the plowing, these people come back and create problems for the Yezidi farmers.
