The Secretary General of the Georgian Dream, Kakha Kaladze, confirmed that citizens are paid to participate in the Georgian Dream action on October 27. According to him, we are talking about money for food.
Earlier, opposition media reported that people coming to Tbilisi to participate in a pro-government rally will receive 50 lari (about $ 15). The coordinators are allegedly paid more.
"Of course! This is money for food. Everything happens officially, nothing is hidden. You [journalists] purposefully say that civil servants do not have the right to come to the rally – then they also have this right. When we bring people in, we pay for their food expenses. The party does it. These are official expenses, and you can check it all," Kaladze said, adding that the pre-election campaign of the Georgian Dream costs less than the rally of the United National Movement.
Recall that the action of the ruling party is scheduled for today on September 27. It will take place at Freedom Square in the center of Tbilisi. Georgian Dream announced its rally after the opposition United National Movement gathered several tens of thousands of its supporters at the same place on October 14. At the UNM rally, one of the main slogans was the release of Mikheil Saakashvili.
