Nechirvan Barzani and the UN Envoy: The new government should serve all Iraqis, including the Yazidi minority

President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) Janine Hennis-Plaschert, discussing the future of the political process in the country.
"The discussions focused on the process of the elections to the Council of Representatives of Iraq and their results, the latest developments in the country and the future of the political process," Barzani's office said in a press release.
Both sides also expressed hope that the results of the parliamentary elections held last Sunday will lead to the creation of a Government that will meet the will, hopes and expectations of all communities, contributing to peace, stability and improved public services for all Iraqis, and especially for the Yazidi minority.
Both sides also agreed that all complaints concerning the results of elections in the places of residence of the Yezidi population should be considered within the framework of judicial procedures.
The President of Kurdistan thanked Hennis-Plaschert as well as UNAMI for their important role in monitoring the election process and supporting Iraq.
