On October 14, about 50 thousand people gathered on a square in the center of Tbilisi for a rally demanding the release of ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili.
Several tens of thousands of people came to the rally from the regions, almost as many residents of the capital on the square.
The action began with the fact that the general director of the opposition channel "Mtavari" and one of Saakashvili's lawyers, Nika Melia, read his message.
Saakashvili called on the country's public to reconcile and unite. He also called on opposition supporters to vote for candidates from the National Movement on October 30, who, following the results of voting on October 1 in local elections, reached the second rounds in almost all major cities of Georgia.
The leader of the main opposition party "United National Movement" Nika Melia told the participants of a protest rally of thousands in Tbilisi about further plans.
The action was held demanding the release of ex-President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili from custody. The third president was detained the day before the local elections, on October 1. Since then, he has been starving, calling himself a political prisoner.
"No one will accept the fact that the third president of Georgia is in prison. We will not finish the fight."
"They ask us what our plan is. Our only plan is victory and nothing but victory," Melia said.
He assured the audience that the moral victory has already been achieved. "There are more of us than many could imagine," the oppositionist said.
With the end of Melia's speech, the three-hour action also came to an end. After the anthem, the participants dispersed.
