Washington believes that Georgia risks returning to a political crisis after the ruling team's decision to withdraw from the "Michel agreement". This is stated in a statement by the head of the press service of the State Department, Ned Price, posted on Twitter.

"The withdrawal of the Georgian Dream party from the agreement of April 19 undermines the agreed path of the country's progress through the necessary reforms and risks returning to a political crisis. We call on all parties to work together to promote Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration, " the statement said.

On the eve of the "Georgian Dream" announced its withdrawal from the political agreement signed on April 19 with part of the opposition with the mediation of the EU and the United States and under the auspices of the President of the European Council Charles Michel. Thus, the Georgian authorities refused to call early parliamentary elections if the ruling party does not gain 43% in the local elections this autumn.

Speaking about the reasons for withdrawing from the treaty, the GM said that more than half of the opposition deputies, including the country's largest opposition party, United National Movement, have not signed the document yet, but international partners leave this fact without reaction.

At the same time, the Georgian Dream stressed that the main requirements of the agreement have been fulfilled – the co-owner of the opposition TV channel Mtavari, Georgy Rurua, and the chairman of the UNM, Nika Melia, have been released from prison, and large-scale reforms have been launched in the country. Based on this, the GM believes that the agreement "has fulfilled its mission and has exhausted itself", 100 days after its initiation.
