A Yazidi woman rescued from Deir ez-Zor province in Syria has been returned to her family in Shangal.

Zeri Matto Shivan, who was found in the northern Syrian province with the help of the internal security forces of Deir ez-Zor, has been reunited with her family, as reported by the "House of Yazidis" in Syria.

Shivan was born in the village of Tel Kasab in Shangal and was one of the women abducted by the militants of the terrorist group ISIS and forcibly taken to Syria. The terrorists were transporting the girl from place to place, which made it even more difficult to determine her location. Shivan found a moment, contacted her family herself, after which she was able to be released from the hands of the IS terrorists.

The emergence of ISIS and the genocide of the Yazidis of Iraq led to the displacement of thousands of residents of the Yazidi community from Shangal in August 2014, and the murder of thousands of people.

According to the Kurdistan Yazidi Rescue Department, more than 2,800 Yazidis out of 6,417 abducted by ISIS remain missing.
