Foreigners who want to get to Georgia by air will have to provide a negative result of a PCR test for coronavirus, despite having a certificate of vaccination, the government's hotline reported.

The new rules will come into force on July 5. According to the current rules, vaccinated foreigners need only a document on passing a full course of vaccination to arrive in Georgia. Citizens of individual countries can fly to the country with a negative PCR test and repeat it after three days.

"From July 5, when crossing the air border, vaccinated persons will be required to have with them, along with a document confirming the course of vaccination, a negative response of a PCR test made in 72 hours," the operator said.

At the same time, she noted that the new rules will affect citizens of all countries.

Georgia opened its air borders in February of this year, and the frequency of flights is increasing every day. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health of Georgia Ekaterina Tikaradze said that vaccinated tourists may be required to do a PCR test when entering Georgia. The reason for this was the information received from the Kutaisi International Airport about the allegedly fake results of the PCR test and fake covid passports with which tourists enter the territory of Georgia. The State Audit Service is engaged in checking cases.
